During our spring Intersession Week, Ms. Hannah combined the excitement of Star Wars with the cutting-edge world of robotics and engineering in an unforgettable STEM adventure. Partnering with Pima Community College, the Force Unleashed group explored advanced robotics labs and STEM-based local museums witnessing firsthand how science and technology shape the future. Inspired by the universe of Star Wars, students designed and built their own droids and lightsabers, applying real-world engineering and problem-solving skills in a hands-on, creative way. This intersession gave students the foundation to imagine the endless possibilities of future innovation. This intersession brought learning to life, inspiring the next generation of inventors, engineers, and dreamers!
During this spring's intersession week, our history group took a journey through time, exploring the rich history of Williams, Arizona and its surrounding landmarks. From stopping along the iconic Rout 66, where they learned about the golden age of American road travel, to stepping inside the Riordan Mansion, a stunning example of architecture, students experienced history firsthand. While at the Museum of Northern Arizona, students gained insight into the region's indigenous and geological history and even got the opportunity to practice ancient pottery techniques. Each stop on this immersive trip connected students to the past in meaningful ways, blending history, culture, and exploration. Through these hands-on experiences, our intersessions help to foster curiosity, cultural appreciation, and community engagement beyond the classroom.
At our school, students dive into hands-on, immersive learning during our Intersession Week, where they embark on week-long academic explorations and field trips guided by their teachers. This spring, our Cinema group visited Old Tucson, a historic film studio known for its iconic role in Western cinema, where they explore how film has preserved and shaped cultural narratives over time. Through behind-the-scenes experiences, interactive workshops, and on-location analysis of classic film techniques, students gained a deeper understanding of storytelling, history, and the evolution of the film industry.
