Students Take the Lead

At our school, learning is student-driven and student-centered. Classrooms are intentionally designed as spaces where students take the lead, teaching one another, asking meaningful questions, and sharing their thinking with confidence. Whether presenting ideas, guiding group discussions, supporting peer, or even leading the class in lessons, students are empowered to take ownership of their education. By celebrating all forms of success and honoring each student's voice, we create a learning community where leadership is nurtured, curiosity is valued, and every student is seen as both a learner and a teacher.

Spirit Week Spotlight: Twin Day

One of the highlights of our most recent Spirit Week was Twin Day, when students, and even staff, teamed up to dress alike and show off their school spirit. From matching outfits among friends to teachers, like Mr. Nick and Mr. Keegan, joining in the fun, Twin Day brought laughter, creativity, and connection to our campus. Moments like these go beyond fun, they help strengthen relationships, build a sense of belonging, and remind our students that school is a community where everyone is invited to participate. Spirit Week celebrations like Twin Day help create a positive, inclusive culture that supports both joy and learning.

EJ Lab Urban Garden

Our Environmental Justice Lab elective invites all 6th grade students, and 7th and 8th graders who choose the course, to take environmental learning beyond the classroom and into the soil. In this hands-on lab, students explore regenerative farming practices while designing, planting, and maintaining a school-based garden of their own. Each student selects a vegetable to grow and care for, building responsibility, patience, and practical life skills while developing a deep respect for the environment and the many people and systems that support healthy food production.

Students also study how specific plants and sustainable practices strength a garden ecosystem, including aligning their practices with Indigenous knowledge such as the Three Sisters planting method. By learning approaches that have too often been overlooked or even suppressed, students discover a more natural, more sustainable, more respectful way to garden, centering balance and long-term health for both people and the planet.
