Expeditions

Expeditions are the many ways PFFSD students get out of the classroom and into the community.  From field trips to community days to short excursions around downtown, expeditions expand learning beyond the classroom and gets students engaged with their community and with the social issues surrounding them. 

Our staff connect with community partners to design expeditions that allow students to explore the unique resources of our city and region and to connect that learning to the unit design so students see the real-world connections between curriculum and the real world.  

Getting into the community also develops student social skills, leadership skills, and confidence.  It helps students mature as community members and explore college and career options available to them.
